Holiday music sets the seasonal scene around Phoenix as we celebrate the holidays. Don’t miss a second of hearing good cheer because of hearing issues. A Christmas Carol at Hale Centre Theatre

Nov. 29 through Dec. 24 – excluding Sundays
A Hale Centre holiday classic, this heart-warming production of Dickens’ classic tale of Christmas inspired redemption is brought to life on stage. Traditional carols, spectacular costumes and memorable characters create a magical experience for you and your family.

 

Francis Smith Cohen’s Snow Queen

Dec. 1 – 16, Saturdays and Sundays
This Hans Christian Andersen classic is set to music by Sergei Prokofiev and performed at the Herberger Theater. The Snow Queen performance has become a beloved holiday tradition for the family.
A Christmas Carol will also be presented at the Herberger Theater. Performance times for this classic are Dec. 9-10, 14-17, 19-24 and Dec. 26-28.

 

Storytime with Mrs. Claus

Dec. 7
Start a family tradition by attending Storytime with Mrs. Claus at the Farm at South Mountain. This event features a family dance party, Christmas light display, face painting, hot chocolate and cookies. The Farm Kitchen restaurant will be open for dinner service and Mrs. Claus will enthrall the crowd with her Christmas stories told under the stars and the pecan trees.

 

The Nutcracker

Dec. 14-16, 20-23
Waltzing flowers, dancing toys, sparking snowflakes – join Clara and the Nutcracker Prince to ring in the season at Orpheum Theater. Performed by Ballet Arizona, The Nutcracker is a cherished addition to the holiday season.

 

Celebration of Christmas at Dream City Church

Dec. 6-9, 13-19
Celebrate the season Broadway style with an extraordinary performance featuring a live, full orchestra, dance numbers, aerial stunts featuring flying angels and more!

 

‘Tis the Season: Holidays at the MIM

Dec. 15 and 16
The Musical Instrument Museum’s annual holiday program features musical performances as well as holiday themed activities.

 

DRUMline Live Holiday Spectacular

Dec. 21
Hip-hop for the holidays! From modern to traditional, Drumline Live is a full marching band performing the classics with energy and electricity. There’s jazz, there’s Motown, there’s hip-hop, there’s Gospel – modern carols such as “All I Want for Christmas” a la Mariah Carey and the traditional “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” all set to choreography with marching bands at the Chandler Center for the Arts.

 

Home for the Holidays with James D. Gish

Dec. 21 and Dec. 23
This cabaret show in the Hormel Theatre at Phoenix Theatre features James D. Gish, Phoenix Theatre’s leading man who wowed crowds in West Side Story, Newsies and Godspell. Gish is back from doing solo shows in Las Vegas and New York for these holiday performances in Phoenix.

 

Lights of the World

Tuesday thru Sunday; Dec. 6 thru Feb. 3
The largest light and lantern festival in North America gives a festive glow to the downtown Phoenix skies. Held at the Arizona State Fairgrounds, Lights of the World features dozens of new exhibits and stunning light displays. The festival combines the age-old Chinese tradition of lanterns with cutting-edge technology and lights. Displays extend up to 60 feet in the air and showcase different cultures and civilizations. Admission includes carnival rides, games, crafts, international food vendors and music and dance performances.

 

Illumination

Nov. 14 thru Jan. 5
The country’s largest animated illumination event is a holiday drive-thru experience that starts on North Black Canyon Highway. The one-mile drive features millions of lights in the animation set-ups synchronized to holiday music.

 

Las Noches de las Luminarias

Dec. 1 – 23 and Dec. 26 -31
The Desert Botanical Gardens take on a spectacular glow for 21 magical evenings with the lighting of 8,000 luminaria bags along with thousands of twinkling lights. This Southwest holiday tradition also features the sights and sounds of nine entertainment ensembles.

 

Holiday Bricktacular at Legoland Discovery Center

Dec. 1 thru Dec. 23, Saturdays and Sundays
Build holiday memories one Lego block at a time at Legoland Discovery Center. The center features holiday décor designed to appeal to girls and boys. The center also has a variety of other festive and holiday themed activities throughout the season.

 

Mannheim Steamroller Christmas

Dec. 27
ASU Gammage
A dazzling spectacular multi-media extravaganza, this show was created by Grammy Award winner Chip Davis. Enjoy Christmas music with a dash of dazzle.
